Gripes and Grievances

This post is a little different. I'm not going to tweet about it, if you found it and you are taking the time to read it thank you. I sure hope it doesn't bore you or drive you crazy.The fact is is that I have decided to deactivate my Facebook account. I know this may not seem like much to some people but to me it is. Facebook is one of the first things I click on in the morning and the last things I click off at night. I love staying up-to-date with friends old and new, sharing articles and photos. Lately though I'm beginning to see a new side, one which I don't like. I knew that there was bitching but it hadn't really affected me until lately. It wasn't just bitching either. It's that everyone knows each others business, people become over familiar with each other and talk to others in a manner they may not ordinarily. People gossip and criticise and slowly it's been getting to me. Even when it isn't directed at me, I just think it's all got a bit too claustrophobic and I needed some air.
I have things to fill my day, looking after my daughter, my home and my blog. No doubt I will go back to Facebook before long but for now I want to focus on what's important to me and not everyone else. Anyway, I just wanted to leave you with one of those cheesy inpsirational quotes but as it's from one of the most inspirational women on the planet and It's International Women's Day tomorrow i think you will forgive me. X

  1. I SO UNDERSTAND. I used to be on FB all the time, now I basically go and visit quickly if I need to get info about and event or Like a brand to get a discount code and similar stuff like that. I just can't deal with it, the place makes me annoyed and furious. Of course it does have its perks, but for about half a year or more the negative sides have been stronger for me, and I stay away.

    You're not alone in this :).

  2. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one. My mum put a message on Facebook and already there have been texts and calls to see Im ok. Its nice to know people care but I need space from it just for a bit. I actually feel a bit relieved to be honest. xXx ps. when you leaving for NYC? Have a great trip. x

  3. I totally know what you mean. A few months ago, I was seriously considering deleting my Facebook, too. If it wasn't the only method of keeping in touch with distant family/old friends, I'd have gotten rid of it looooong ago. People can be so awful on there, and it seems to be getting worse. I hardly go on there anymore. :(

    1. I hate the fact that I can't freely talk to my sister in Australia or catch up with the people that matter to me that is the thing I'll miss most. xXx

  4. Hi my dear!

    It's like that in the office I work in - we all know what people got up to the night before, before we even walk into the office. I didn't like it, had a FB breakdown, and deactivated it for about a month. Long enough for my love of twitter to take off, and for people at work to forget about me!

    I had a friend cull, and now I'm back on there, mainly for games and a few groups I'm a part of. Other than that, I don't update status' all that much, comment a few times, but mainly observe.

    Twitter = the friendly place!!

  5. I hear you... I regularly deactivate my FB account when things get too much, which they can do at times. I usually go back on when I'm missing people & their news. I remember the good old days of phone calls and letters, and even those things called email.. they were more personal in a way! *sounding old* xxx

  6. Hi Tracey, I understand you, although FB is a great tool to connect people, it degenerates a lot into just stalking an gossiping. I try to use it just to share a few things and keep in touch, but just the necessary amount. I think you cant let yourself get too drawn into it, because what happended to me was that I started feeling really left out and surrounded at the same time (hope you understand this =.=)and I just wanted to do things but just so I could post it on my wall and thats not really the point so I got really depressed. Its just a tool, not a way of living. So kudos and I wish you the best!. xoxo

    1. You are very right. I think that is why I needed to step away because I was being too drawn in and there are muich better and more important things. Like actually living life. xXx
