Today I thought I would bring something a little different to the blog. I'd like to share with you one of my favourite ever films - Pretty In Pink and if you are like me and love a bit of fashion, a good eighties soundtrack and a love story then I suggest you watch this little gem.
I remember seeing the poster for this film in a video store (remember those?) on the way to school, it was around 1986/87 so I would have been about 8 or 9 years old.
It wasn't this exact poster but I remember being smitten by Molly Ringwald and her look. She was different, not blonde hair and blue eyes like the usual Hollywood heroines, but red hair, freckles and quirky.
The film is about Andie (played by Ringwald). A poor girl, living with her unemployed father who goes to a school where there is a very clear divide between rich and poor. She meets Blane (played by Andrew McCarthy - a true eighties heartthrob). They fall for each other but run into difficulties when their friends do not approve of the relationship. Blane promises to take Andie to the prom but chickens out, so Andie ends up going alone. She wears a prom dress that she creates from a dress belonging to her friend/boss Iona and a dress her father gets her in a thrift shop.
Along with the support of her friend Ducky she goes to prom and bumps into Blane who is there alone and looking completly miserable. He apologises for being a complete douche. Andie chases after him and they share a passionate kiss.
This really is a film I could watch time and time again. The opening sequence for me just pulls you in. You see Andie getting ready for school - putting on her stockings, flowery pop socks, picking out accessories from a drawer full of costume jewellery before seeing the outfit in its full glory. She also has the loveliest girly bedroom. I defy any girl who doesn't have a passion for fashion to dislike this film. What are your favourite fashion inspired films or TV shows? x

Wear it out
So it's post-christmas. Every magazine/newspaper is telling us that we want to lose weight (do we?), every celeb is telling us we must buy their fitness DVD (yeah right) and nobody has a pot to piddle in to buy anything new.
So for my OOTD I have decided to pull out a tunic that has only had a couple of airings since buying it about a year ago from New Look Inspire. I loved the pattern on it from the moment I saw it but sometimes I feel it looks a bit 'bellowy'.
I'm thinking of wearing it with a belt. Unfortunatly I don't own many belts at the moment and the ones I do are just intended for jeans rather than creating a waist. Perhaps something like this one from Simply Be would go nicely?
As it is a new year maybe I should make it a resolution (hate that word) to experiment with accessories and pieces that I wouldn't ordinarily. Are there any looks or pieces that you fancy trying this year? Something that you've always told yourself wouldn't suit you? Be bold and brave - you never know, we may discover something we adore. xXx

January Wish-List
There is nothing like a bit of crappy weather to make you want to stay at home, eat chocolate and look on the internet for lots of lovely things that you'd like to own... yes, even after christmas! So here are a few of the things that I'd love to get my hands on this month. You have probably seen me tweet about some of these bits already, but a girl can never get enough of a good thing!
These lovelies are from Yours Clothing and I spotted them under the 'coming soon' section of the website. They will be £23.00 and I cannot wait for them to come into stock.
Also on the Yours Clothing website is this lovely heart print dress for £30.00. As the weather is still cold I think it would look great with tights - maybe some coloured ones and boots. For spring/summer it would be nice with a bare leg and pretty shoes.
This chair print blouse is from Asos Curve, costs £35 and I've had my eye on it for a little while. I am not usually a big fan of blouses because I have a big bust and they really don't do much for me but this is gorgeous.
These Joe Browns espadrilles are just £14 and avaliable on the Isme website. They are a great price and I'm pretty sure I'll be getting a pair for spring/summer.
Last but not least is the stripe bow top also from Isme. This top is just £20. I'm pretty sure there is some silly rule about big girls wearing stripes but rules were made to be broken, right?
Have you got a January wish list? I'd love to know what's on yours. x

Flowers N Lace
I had no intention of blogging again today as I only just did one yesterday and I am a firm believer in quality over quantity. However, I wore a top that I picked up in the Sales earlier this week and a necklace (both from New Look) and thought thy looked pretty cute (even if I do say so myself).
Neither are on the website anymore (from what I can see) but if I buy jewellery at New Look I usually go for instore rather than online then I can try bits on for size or just to see if they suit. The top (which is from the Inspire Range) is pretty thin so this time of year I will end up teaming it with a cardigan but for spring/summer I can go without. The only thing I am not 100% on is it shows my bra-straps and because I have big bangers (lol) my bras are usually hardcore scaffolding types rather than pretty or delicate.
I teamed my top up with New Look Inspire Jeans and again the animal print shoes. Hope you have got yourself some nice bargins in the post-crimbo sales. xXx

Bring On The Dancing Horses
Wow, so we are finally at 31st December. Where has the year gone? I'm so glad to have finally started my blogging and I'm really looking forward to future blogs. There are already some gorgeous items that I want to purchase and have many ideas for new blogs in 2012. However, I must add I am not big on this 'big changes' 'out with the old' that some people harp on about when it comes to New Years. For me personally I think you can make changes to your life at any point you want - you don't need a silly date to tell you and it shouldn't be just restricted to 1st January. You should see everyday as a new chapter and a fresh start...
The other half and I have no plans to go out tonight as we have a three year old daughter and it's pretty hard to get a sitter, also she is such an early bird we'd be back home by 10.30pm. It doesn't bother me, I'd much rather stay in with a drink and take-away and watch Jools Holland. For today's post I did want to show you my OOTD (even if I am in my pjs by midnight)!
Please excuse my water-logged roof terrace, I must find some half-decent places to take my pics!
My top is Anna Scholz at Simply Be. I got this in the sale at the beginning of November and I have literally worn it to death ever since. I LOVE the fact that it isn't too thick and heavy like some jumpers For me personally it isn't an appropriate length to wear just with tights like the model in the catalogue pic.
so I wear mine with black jeans (New Look sale for £10) and today I wore them with my new animal print ballet pumps from New Look. The jumper is now only avaliable in sizes 18 and 32 on the Simply Be website and I know some bloggers had it on their wishlist so it has obviously proved to be a very popular item. I for one am really looking forward to seeing what Spring/Summer has in store for Anna Scholz/Simply Be, don't know about you?
Well readers, hope you have a enjoyable and safe evening whatever you are doing and wherever you may be going. xXx

One swallow does not a summer make
So this is my third blog and I know, it is quality over quantity but I have been wanting to do this for ages. I guess it's like those pringle crisps...once you pop you can't stop!
Anyway, I have been excited about the swallow print dress since I first spotted it on the New Look website. It currently retails at £24.99 and comes in two different colours. It is very quickly selling out on the New Look website so if you have a decent New Look store with the Inspire range I suggest heading there which is exactly what I did.
I am wearing the dress with my winter boots from Simply Be and Joe Browns (Again Simply Be) lace trim leggings. Although this is sold as a 'dress' I consider it more of a tunic but maybe that's just me... Anyway, I'm really loving it and so glad that I picked it up. I wouldn't ordinarily go for something with such a high neck either as I am quite big-busted but I think it is still pretty flattering.
So what are you all thinking about the swallow print look? Are there any swallow-print items you fancy purchasing? I also have this item too, from Simply Be, hopefully I'll blog about that soon..

If the shoe fits
So my mum and dad gave me an unexpected treat of a £100 voucher card for New Look. I am a pretty big fan of not only the Inspire Range but I also love the accessories - rings, bags, corsages and shoes.
I had a pair of animal print ballet pumps from Primark a while back which I lived and died in (literally) but like most clothing and shoes I love, I wear to the bitter end. Anyway , I saw this pair of animal print shoes in New Look and had to have.
I love the way they are elasticated at the back (can't really tell from my pic) so they feel lovely and secure. I also love the beading and the bows. I'd probably wear these bad boys with quite a plain outfit, black top and jeans and let the shoes be the main feature but if you have any other suggestions as to what they would look good with, please let me know. x
